Eric Runkle
CEO / General Manager

Before joining Magno seed in 2020, Eric started his career after college farming in the Nampa Idaho area. After a few years of farming Eric decided to take a job with Syngenta, spending the next 20 years focusing on vegetable seed and sugarbeet seed R&D operations, working on many global and regional teams.

A few of Eric’s most important business values are Integrity, honesty, safety, and teamwork, believing that with these core values at the lead of a business, our team can operate safely as a very close team delivering the highest quality product to our customers that we can stand behind 100%. In Eric’s personal time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, along with mountain biking and skiing in the Idaho mountains.

David Gaudio
Controller

David

David is the Controller of Magno Seed and joined the Magno team in 2021. He is a CPA, graduated from the University of Colorado in 1984 majoring in Accounting and graduated from Regis University in 1997 with his Masters Degree in Business. His experience includes Medical Manufacturing, Energy Industries, Retail and Agriculture. He is a Colorado native who enjoys Traveling, Golf, and Family to include his wife, two daughters, son and grand children.

Jesse Benbow
Head Of Production

Jesse

Jesse has 16 years experience in sugarbeet seed and stecklings production, including R&D seed plots, basic seed, and commercial crop. Based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, he also manages steckling production in California’s Imperial Valley and seed in the Washington Columbia Basin.

Jesse earned a Masters Degree in Botany and Plant Pathology from Oregon State University and prior to moving to sugarbeet seed, worked for OSU Agriculture Research and Extension. Outside of work he enjoys spending time at the Oregon Coast, gardening, and referees youth and high school soccer games.

Tyler Trostel
Head of Manufacturing

Tyler has over 18 years of Operations, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain experience across several industries. He began his career in the Pharmaceutical industry and has also worked in the Ag, Chemical, and Consumer Packaged Goods industries. Tyler brings 4 years of sugarbeet experience to the Magno team.

Tyler is a Colorado native who enjoys spending time with his wife and 5 children, along with hunting, fishing, and golfing.

Ciriaco Franks
Head Of R&D Operations

Ciriaco has 19 years in the Agricultural Industry.  He spent 18 years working with large seed vegetables and has 4 years of sugar beet operational experience.  His initial focus was on quality lab functions, transitioning to quality lab management, and then in to managing R&D operations. Over the last 12 years he has leveraged his technical knowledge and continuous improvement across local and regional R&D Operation initiatives. Ciriaco works out of the Nyssa Oregon area with regional oversight of seed production, yield trial and disease nursery execution in Oregon, Idaho, California, Colorado, North Dakota and Michigan.

As a regional manager, Ciriaco believes in encouraging innovation, driving efficiencies through continuous improvement and delivering high quality seed and data in the safest manner possible for our teams.  Ciriaco is an Idaho native, and spends his time with his wife chasing kids at various sporting events, hitting the mountain bike trails, and getting some time in the sun at the lake.

Kristal Rick
Head of Logistics Supply

Kristal was a member of the team that worked on the formation of Magno Seed on July 1, 2020 and transitioned into Supply Manager from a similar role. Her 14 years experience include focusing in Marketing and Communications, Agronomy Production, Inventory Management and assisting in Product Management. Attention to detail with sincerity and integrity are some of the values Kristal adds to team and the product services Magno provides.

Graduating from North Dakota State University with a major in Crop and Weed Science and focus on Plant Protection, Kristal continues to live in the RRV. She is a Minnesotan who enjoys gardening, hiking and time at the lake with family. Life is busy with the activities of her husband, three sons and their families, especially the grandchildren.

Katlyn Hitz
Head of Quality Assurance

Katlyn has 11 years’ experience working in Agricultural research. She has a master’s degree in plant and soil science with a focus on plant breeding and genetics. She spent 9 years working in breeding programs for small grains. 4 of those years were spent as a barley development scientist with Miller/Coors where she managed their quality lab. She became a part of the sugar beet world when she joined the Magno team in 2021 as the R&D site manager in Longmont, CO. She spent 2 years in this position until she began her new role in 2023 as the Quality Manager. Katlyn is very  dedicated and passionate in her work. She brings values such as innovation, integrity, and teamwork to the company.

Outside of work Katlyn enjoys all of the outdoor activities Colorado has to offer. She is an avid runner who enjoys competing in races. She loves spending time with her two pups and enjoying a beer or two with friends.
